Challenges
Environmentally Sensitive Area
Construction at this site, which is adjacent to a designated wetlands area, involved numerous regulations and obstacles. Multiple state and DEP permissions were required, with regular inspections to ensure that every directive was followed perfectly. The entire site had to be stabilized and thoroughly drained before the foundation was poured. The zoned-off area was off limits to workers, leaving only 3-4 feet as workspace, which created an additional challenge.
Building a Workaround-Literally!
After a good portion of the site was designated as wetlands, the remaining plot was an irregular shape. A typical straight-line school building was out of the question, yet the school needed every last corner. Regency's engineers and architects collaborated to plan creative layouts for each floor, carefully calculating student schedules to ensure that the daily routine flows smoothly.
The end result: A unique, stately structure that's uber-practical for heavy use.
